On the topic of belly pans, here's an excellent look at a Lotus Elise full undertray. The circumstances permitting such a clear shot are unfortunate, though!

Hey ilovemysam, I love how you only have onle little hole opening for the exaust. I was wondering if have you had any issues with the plastic melting yet?

hey, lovemysan, can we get an update on this? worth it? mpg improvement? quieter inside? any molten plastic? your work is what inspired my air dam and undertray. coroplast and carpet binding all the way!

The only thing my engine belly pan on my Civic has done is keep my engine bay cleaner. With all that air and liq. fouling the engine bay. I would have thought my simple pan would have helped mpg.... It hasnt.... but the engine is cleaner...

The short answer is I don't know. I just took a trip home and averaged 46mpg overall. Not too shabby I suppose, given we're still with winter fuel and temps were low. I did remove my HAI pickup tube and lost some mileage, the dryer tubing was shot and I was afraid it would collapse.

I'll know when I make my summer trip for sure. Also its getting time to do some maintenance on the car.

I made the pan out of aluminum if its quieter I can't tell. So far no fires or melting, although I did buy a decent fire extinguisher just for the car.

I'm pretty sure I need to revise the rear up angle. And also were it passes over the rear control arms. I'll also be changing the rear skirts for something more aero friendly. I've also got some damage from hitting ice and stuff buried under snow this winter. I guess its part of having a low sitting car.
