Re: "Ideal Revs", If the engine isn't lugging it should be fine, but staying under 2000 RPM up hills doesn't work the engine less, it causes more strain especially on cams and bearings. Same work / half RPM = twice the load per RPM. Don't load the engine too much, and the most efficient RPM for hard acceleration (when unavoidable) is where it produces peak torque (not horsepower).
