World Oil Santa Monica. Filled up before leaving San Bernardino, drove back at 55 mph, then filled up again. This was to get a baseline, so when I tow my new travel trailer back on the same route next Saturday, I can tell how much it impacts the mileage. End odometer 77,802.

World Oil Santa Monica. About 75 miles of city driving, then to San Diego and back at 55 mph. Fun to see the mileage readings when going that slow. Used the cruise control to go up to 70 mph down long hills. End odometer 77,420.

World Oil Santa Monica after driving 60 mph on US 101 from Santa Cruz. The car's dashboard said >37 mpg through San Luis Obispo, then a lunch stop, more hills, and an hour of stop and go traffic drove the average down. An experiment to show slowing down a bit boosts fuel economy. Next I'll try 55 mph, the speed limit when towing. Then, I hope, 55 mph with a travel trailer. End odometer 76,020.

World Oil Santa Monica. After seven weeks in the body shop. An inattentive driver rear-ended us in a parking lot, and Allstate says that means it was my fault. So now I have to find a new insurance company. Ugh. End odometer 75,236.

Chevron El Segundo and World Oil Santa Monica. Santa Cruz to the East Bay, then back to Los Angeles, plus a little driving around in L.A. The "miles remaining" on the dashboard went blank while I was out, where just before it said something like 20 miles remaining. So I went to a Chevron 2.2 miles away to get 2 gallons. Then on to a less expensive station. Fuel capacity is 18.5 gallons, so I still had that 20 miles remaining. End odometer 71,420.
