Valero Santa Rosa. End odometer 93786. 55 mph from Venice to Santa Rosa, plus maybe 20 minutes idling in the shade in Kettleman City to eat lunch with the air conditioner running while it was 110F outside. The Outback's computer said 36.5 mpg for the route, but it's harder to totalize relatively continuous, low volume fuel flow than the high volume flow at the pump. At least, that's one explanation. Or maybe Subaru doesn't mind their optimistic software, since most owners don't calculate the mpg independently at the pump.
