Tire question
 

I'm a few thousand miles away from getting new tires on my car and I'm trying to figure out which way I should go. Are LRR tires and performance tires mutually exclusive? Anyone know of a tire that has a good balance of both? I have Goodyear (or as my brother in law calls them, good-for-a-year) Eagles now running at 43 pounds, anymore seems to result in severe deterioration in handling. I'm all about FE but I like to have some fun in my car as well, that's why I bought a 4cyl 5 speed turbo manual.

Is it just me or am I asking a lot of freakin' questions?

In general, it seems that the most money is saved by buying long-wearing tires cheaply and not worrying about rolling resistance. However, in that thread, good LRR models are named.

I think you won't find long-wearing, LRR, good-handling tires for cheap. Something's got to give...

I will read that thread and see what I can find out. I guess I missed that one before I started this one. I'm not real confident I'll find performance LRR tires either, I was just kind of hoping against hope they would exist. Seems like it would be like dry water, jumbo shrimp or government help.

cheap and great performance. the life of them is yet to be seen(mine are new). but mine are rated @ 60K miles. hopefully w/ hypermiling, they'll last longer!
