Advice on MPG for Honda Element

I drive a Honda Element. Am I out of luck when it comes to my gas mileage?

How bad is your mileage? Surely you can improve. "Out of luck" depends on what your standards are for "in luck".

Manual, or automatic?

Depends on what you call out of luck. It will never be super high, but there's quite a bit that can be done to improve your mileage.

I drive a Chevy Astro with a combined EPA of 16 mpg, my last two tanks I got 21+ mpg. Driving technique improvements only.

Here's an Element that averaging 25.7 mpg.

my wife has an element and it gets worse mileage than my car.

you have somewhat of an advantage because of your poor starting point. hear me out on this one. if you are starting at lets say 20 MPG (you should be getting better than that) then if you go up just 2 MPG then you have gone up 10% and saved that much on your over all fuel costs. there may be a little bit of a silver lining in it for you.

it isn't much but hey, it's something.
