VX swap in 88 Accord?
Has anyone ever put the d15z1 in an 87-89 Accord. I have an 88 Accord LXI w/an auto and I want to put a VX engine with the HF transmission. What parts would be needed to complete the project? Can I squeeze 50mpg out of the setup? Any info is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

that setup will bog all the time, small displacement engine with a long geared transmission. i think you would need custom mounts to do that swap, and a whole lot of fabrication. not worth it IMO

This setup is about 700-1000 pounds heavier than a comparable Honda CRX, so realize you'd be hauling around about 40-50% or more vehicle than if you did this in a CRX. If you did a 1976-81 or 82-85 Accord you'd be a LOT better off, as the body weighs a lot less.
The VX weighs in at about 2094 pounds dry. (Any CRX would work, btw) The Accord weighs in from 2493-2718, so you are hauling around a LOT of extra steel to put it in an Accord that new or newer. Much better off with an older body, and it is a LOT of work. 1988 Honda Accord DX CPE MT 2493 1988 Honda Accord LXi CPE MT 2551 1988 Honda Accord DX HB MT 2513 1988 Honda Accord LXi HB MT 2564 1988 Honda Accord LX Sedan MT 2482 1988 Honda Accord DX Sedan MT 2579 1988 Honda Accord LXi Sedan MT 2665 1989 Honda Accord DX CPE MT 2493 1989 Honda Accord LXi CPE MT 2646 1989 Honda Accord DX HB MT 2513 1989 Honda Accord LXi HB MT 2560 1989 Honda Accord SE CPE MT 2710 1989 Honda Accord SEi CPE MT 2718 1989 Honda Accord LX Sedan MT 2500 1989 Honda Accord DX Sedan MT 2595 1989 Honda Accord LXi Sedan MT 2685 1989 Honda Accord SEi Sedan MT 2718 |
Thanks for the info I think I will look for a rust free CRX.
