Basic Test of Adding Hydrogen
Hello all,
After reading threads on this and other sources, I find no mention of someone buying an industrial hydrogen tank and metering known amounts of hydrogen in to the intake at various rates -SAFELY-. It seems to me, this would be a good way to establish; (1) if it works and (2) what the rate should be. Then, armed with that information... decide how to build the on board generator. |
that would be awesome! why don't you try it out and let us know the results?

I am interested in the comments regarding Hydrogen ratios and effects, ect.
This forum should be able to discuss this to some degree. It seems the threads are focusing on the "how to build the HHO" which is good, but what are the basic hydrogen requirements? Thanks Zerf |
o i see. well if you can't find anything there's always trial and error right? lol

A few things.
First of all, generating hydrogen requires energy. It is available in water but you have to extract it. Also, hydrogen is relatively voluminous unless you compress it. So if you wanted to make a solar-powered hydrogen generator, you'd need some power to generate it and more power to compress it. Plus you'd have to refill your water supply every so often. On the other hand, there is the possibility of just carrying a compressed-hydrogen bottle. While this is technically feasible, propane is a lot more realistic and more available. Refilling your hydrogen bottle would require special filling stations or gas suppliers. If I were to generate my own hydrogen, I would set up a fairly substantial solar- or wind-power station at home, and use this to generate and compress my hydrogen. Then I guess I could get a fair quantity of distilled water fairly cheaply, since it's only 99 cents per gallon at the drugstore and probably less expensive in larger quantities. Anyone know an "ideal" compression ratio for hydrogen? I suspect you'd need higher than 9:1. -Bob C. |
