Interesting in how it looks like they are trying to force the air out in the middle of the car. Develop a low pressure zone?

might this be something similar as old saab 900 have? some have something the size of a mudflap somewhere half between the front and aft wheels... i think it could angle outward slightly too.... i have yet to find out what it's for, and haven't seen it on any other car thusfar...
the strips on the evo seem easy enough to replicate but i doubt they're usefull for FE... can't remember the last time i felt short of downforce... to me the car does not look like a good source of inspiration for FE related mods... the front looks like a whole body pannel fell off.... than again it looks agressive and fast etc... and that's what that car is probably about.... just not what i get exited about these days. |
Looks like it all directed toward downforce...which makes sense for that type of vehicle.

I doubt it is for downforce. The initial angle of attack for the front of them suggests they are intended as spoilers, not airfoils. My bet is on high speed stability enhancement.

there's some readable text below the pictures of these things stating +1 and 2 kg extra downforce front and rear at 100 km/h
and +3 and +6 kg at 180km/h i think i was a test somewhere, might have been autospeed but i'm not sure, where they where testing the shape and size of wheel fairings (these inverse mudflap thingies), to redure drag. when they where placed to far ahead of the wheel drag increased, but so did downforce.... than again it might help stability at well |
evos ARE fastt and powerfull. the wide opening is for the cooling system of the car because it's been designed to be able to be run at more than 5% throttle where most of the people here top out at. I'd like to see some of the grill-blocked cars here run 50% throttle for any amount of time with load.

If it's moving air from underneath the car, it could aid in dropping the overall height of the car in motion. A reduction in overall height could increase mileage?
I don't necessarily think that would be Mitsu's intent, but it might be an additional benefit. |
