Sea Foam is naphtha with some oil added. Naphtha is also sold as Coleman Fuel. I don't know what effect it has on mileage, power, etc., but it works well to clean carbon out of 2 stroke engines and throttle bodies.

I use the Seafoam for de-carbonizing the motor on my VX. I do it about once a year.

I have used it on motor and sail boats I have worked on but never tried it in the TDI. I know some people swear by it.

i have used it and did not see crazy amazing wow this is the best product ever kind of results. but i don't think that it would hurt either.

Seafoam was originally developed for the marine industry to clear engines of carbon and junk without a tear down while at sea. They've also got a penetrating oil and transmission cleaner. Oddly, Seafoam also works in the crankcase to clean sludge in the oil.
Our local farm dealer where I buy my parts and supplies sells this stuff by the case. The manufacturer claims that it can be used to stabilize fuel over a lay over and to clean an engine crankcase. I've used it a couple of times to clear water in the tank. Seems to work pretty good. |
