Best Diesel in N. Texas?
I'm curious about other North Texas Jetta TDI drivers ... who do you believe has the highest quality diesel and why?
I bet you'll reach a greater concentration of Jetta TDI owners over at the TDIClub Forums. I'm not sure the number of both Jetta owners and North Texas drivers is high enough here.
haha not from N Tex nor am i a Jetta driver, but i do drive a diesel...and i must say that in my experience down here in South East Tx, the best diesel stations are either truck stops, or Shell stations
BP - Amoco Premium always gave me the best mileage in my TDI or Powerstroke. Not many BP's North of Dallas. Whichever station it is, the higher the cetane rating the better the MPG. And Shell is good too!
Thanks ya'll ... I prefer Shell too based on something I read about their additives and supposed higher cetane. Why can't they post the cetane level on the pump????
Most don't and when you ask the person running the cash register, you mostly get a blank stare. I wrote BP directly and they told me what their cetane was. I monitor my mileage pretty close. BP was first, Shell was second in mileage. Note: Pilot is basically swill. MPG went done on that stuff.
what was the cetane of the BP fuel? not that it matters much for me because they're ain't one near me that i know of
According to BP, their diesel has a cetane rating of 50.
FWIW, Phillips 66 said they maintain a 42 to 46 rating. Citgo said that their diesel is a minimun of 46. Never could get Pilot to answer. Just from the MPG performance, I'd say it's somewhere right above swill. |
