Welcome to GasSavers! I like the Honda Splendour. Looks close to a classic 1970's Honda to me. https://www.herohonda.com/products.htm The website quotes the Splendour for around 40,000 Rupees (about $1000 US). Does that sound about right? Too bad they don't sell them in the USA. Sure beats mopeds. CarloSW2 |
What I find interesting is when I was shopping for a bike (my first and only motorcycle, which I no longer have), I was looking for a small displacement 4-stroke. When it started to look like I was going to get a Ninja 250, I can't tell you how many people warned me it was too underpowered.
It was fine. I probably would have bought a 100 if I could have :) |

I have a number of questions about your motorcycle, is it a automatic, or manual transmition? (they made a number of automatics, so don't take this as a silly question) what type of tires do you have, and what type of ridding do you do with it? have any modifications been done to the engine, or the exaust? what type of mileage are you getting with it? what is the quality of oil, and gasoline that you can get? I'll think of more questions latter. |
You may want to do a search on "Craig Vetter" and his motorcycle farings. There are farings that could cut your aerodynamic drag to a third of what it currently is or less.

I vote for bumping up the gearing as much as is practical...get a smaller rear sprocket and try it out. The acceleration will be a lot slower and you'll need to downshift for hills, but the FE in top gear should be a lot better.
I used to play around with an old Honda on my grandparents' farm...a 102, I think. It was from the late 60s. 50cc, 3-speed with a centrifugal clutch. The thing would do 45 in top gear with a good downhill, spewing oil smoke all the way...I finally gave up on it after the spark plug would only last a couple of miles before getting fouled with oil. Lots of fun to play with, and slow enough that I survived having it stuck at WOT a few times. |
