IST = inertia storage transmission
?Believe it or not, both these old beat up cars have something amazing in common: They get double the gas mileage of standard models, because of an ingenious new transmission system developed by inventor Vincent Carman?

Wow! 1970 technology. I love the part about the government stalling.:mad: It only took 25 years for Toyota to market it in a different form.

It sounds like someone in Detroit may be thinking along the same lines. Here is an article from cleanmpg.com about a Ford F-150 that is projected at 60 mpg when it is scheduled to debut in 2008.

I think that it's Ford doing some PR bull ****. Remember the Probe 5? Remember GM's hydrogen fuel cells? Remember the electric prototypes? They're trying to make it look like they care in order to get the money of the environmentalists. They've been doing it for at least 20 years or so. Until they're forced to by the consumers or the government, we'll never see a 60 mpg Ford or GM.
