VW ARVW diesel Nardo
Huh, just heard about this recently. Supposed to have set a few land speed records, with pretty good fuel efficiency to boot.

Wow thats awsome
|
makes you wonder just how good of gas mileage it would get at 60 mph?
|
Impressive. Again shows proves that fuel efficiency and horsepower can co-exist in the same vehicle. Now where's the V8 version?
|
How about a V10? Chipped it would probably get 350hp/650tq easy... Too bad it's $15-20k for the engine/tranny, but in a few years, that might be a neat swap for under $10k.
|
lol, why on earth would you want more power in this thing? 255 mph not enough :O?

I do have the Triumph in the garage. Might get it road legal over Christmas break, which will fit my wants nicely. That desire for speed is something I've had before I drove the gutless POS, and at one time, that desire was partially fulfilled.
A diesel V10 running on B100 in that thing would rule. |
It's not speed, it's acceleration! The V10 TDI provides what really moves any car, torque, gobs and gobs of delicious torque. With efficiency to boot... The darn thing makes more or the same power, way more torque, and gets better mileage than either of the gasoline engines in the Touareg. I would love for some ballsy hotrod shop to toss one of those in a corvette.
|
The new Corvette has like a .28 Cd! My concern with putting that in the Vette would be the weight of that V10. I don't know how much it weighs, but if it is over 800 pounds, there's going to be problems. I think the Corvette's engine weighs around 450 lbs or so.
Imagine a V10 diesel in one with a carbon fibre body for weight reduction. That would be the shit. |
According to wikipedia, the V8 TDI is 550lbs, so the V10 may only weigh in at ~600lbs. In a vette the V8 TDI may be better, but it's kinda rare, so.... eh? Jeez, look at us, armchair hotrodding. :D
