Very busy crickets - GS recent activity "record"

For a site seemingly quiet the past few days, gassavers managed to set a new "busy-ness" record last week:

Most users ever online was 53, 10-04-2006 at 12:59 PM.

Nice. Wonder what drove activity on that particular day.

Last time that stat changed, I noted it in this thread:

Most users online - what happened last month?

(06-23-2006 - was the previous busiest)

I've been very actively working to get more traffic here lately. I'm also positive that the contest is starting to have a positive effect. A number of participants have been dropping links left and right on various forums they frequent.

Oh yeah, and this site rocks too :)

New record: Most users ever online was 62, 11-29-2006 at 06:35 AM.

(What the heck are that many people doing out of bed at 6:35 am?)

I wonder what's going on. MetroMPG.com also just finished its busiest week ever. (Though it seems mostly to be hits from people searching for info about why winter FE sucks, and block heaters.)

Congratulations, MetroMPG. You're having the BEST WEEK EVER!:D

I'm noticing a trend for FE sites to be slower during the winter months. Who in the world wants to tinker with their car when it's 30 degrees out?

I don't :)

My BEST WEEK EVAR doesn't include falling off my bike :)

I hear you Matt. For Christmas, I'd like a fully instrumented wind tunnel.

Also a heated shop, or an address about 20 degrees south lattitude of this one.
