Scangauge 2 vs Supermid
 

Hi everyone,

I was considering getting a mileage gauge and was wondering what people thought were the relative merits of the supermid vs scangauge. It seems that the scangauge is nicer cosmetically, but the supermid is more functional as a mileage gauge. Any comments would be appreciated.

SuperMID for OBD1 or OBDII, Scanguage for OBDII only. SuperMID more difficult to install and calibrate than SG, good only for Prius and certain Honda 4 cylinder engines.

If your car has OBDII, buy a scanguage.
If your car has OBDI, then the SuperMID is pretty much your only hope at this time.

The supermid should work on more but may not be accurate with the instantaneous. Mine sure isn't and I sure don't care.

The thing I love about the MID is the percentage of distance with the engine on and the lap function.

i wana get a superMID for myself but cant find the link.

also did we decide that the MID can display units in GAL. and english not Liters and Metric? if so, i'm getting one.

SuperMIDs will be sold through me shortly.

As for the gallons vs. liters, etc... right now it is metric only, but a projected upgrade will be available in the beginning of 2007.

Where can I get SuperMid tech specs? Purchase?

If you don't mind hauling a laptop around, you could use tuning software for your data display/logging needs.

I know a guy on another forum who does something similar on his early 1990s GM V8 but I think he's using something different than that. He hasn't been on in a week, but when he gets back I'll see if he can tell me what he uses.
