Replacement of Prius plugin 12 volt battery

Dealer recommends replacement of 12 volt battery in my Prius plugin. Any reason why I should not do this myself?

I don't know what year you have, but I recently replaced the accessory battery in my 2008 model. It's located in the trunk and requires you to remove some panels and possibly a control box of some type. It took me nearly an hour, but that was because the battery had died, we couldn't move the car, and it was in a short garage where I couldn't open the trunk all the way. If you have basic skills you should be able to do it with some help from the internet.

As I stated in the other thread, make sure to get a vented battery and connect it to the vent lines.

You should start thinking about replacing the battery every 5 years.
