Georgia Interstates are getting wide....VERY wide
GDOT is proposing widening a portion of I-75 just north of Atlanta to 23 lanes wide. Traffic is very bad in Atlanta [third worst in the US?], and this particular area [northwest corridor] is the worst spot. The proposed widening will defiantely help out, but 23 lanes...WOW! :o

I think the solution is just to let traffic get so congested and bad people realize they need to find an alternative then to drive to work each in their own cars every day. Carpooling or park and rides are better than extra lanes any day, :p

More lanes, same problem
I've read that the addition of lanes doesn't benefit congestion that much. People still have to get on and off the highway, and the merging into those lanes will still create the bottleneck effect. I agree with the congestion problem in Atlanta -- almost made me miss a flight at the busiest airport in the U.S. (yup, Hartsfield) -- I ran to the gate only to find out the flight was delayed. The pilots were hanging out waiting for their aircraft, and were like, "What's the rush". It was a good workout, but next time, I'm taking the train thing into downtown or up North.
