Chose a header!!!! help
Hi, well i have a Civic ef HB EX with a 1.3 EFi engine swap D13B and i want to change the header so i need some recommendation cause its have the stock header that sound really weird and i was thinking to use a d15b stock header but i saw that my down pipe its really small and i don't want to mess my lil engine power with another header you think i can use the d15b header without any mpg loss or power loss???? my header its the one that come with big catalyst close to the 4 exhaust.
thankss any help.. |
in your case i dont know what is available... with such small displacement out of the d series i wouldnt trust anything to help with mpg.... the only thing that might help highway mpg is a turbo, but then when you step on it you will lose mpg...

How would adding a turbo to an existing engine help FE? The only way I know of a turbo helping FE is by allowing you to choose a smaller engine. The energy that spools a turbo is not free, it comes from the exhaust stroke...

A Civic ef HB EX
What? ef HB EX? Year? I would recomind a light weight header swap, but every after market header is going to be wider diameter than the rest of the exhaust system. I can see the dilema. They make those stock headers out of iron, my stainless steel one is a fraction of the weight. Any turbo system has its special type of header to go with it, as for as position and type of mounting. If your looking to buy a header, you could go big and go turbo. I've heard turbo does great for freeway cruising, but crap MPG in town. Every time you shift, you burn gas to charge that turbo. No personal experience only hear say. Turbo use anyone? |

... for mpg? or for full throttle power?

Crap my header is illegal.
The guy at the smog place tells me I fail visual inspection of my car, Im like
"I know its dirty, but aren't you only looking at the tail pipe?" Apparently because there isn't a specific number stamped into it, so their illegal. My hyperlite crx apparently failed smog by burracracy. (bangs head on steering wheel) |
Do you live in California? If so, those kind of parts need to be CARB approved.
