How hard is it to install a tach?
My metro didnt come with one. Im guessing maybe some other cars didnt and some of you guys installed an aftermarkert tach. How hard was it?

Shouldn't be to hard. One wire to power, one to ground, one to the tach signal.

I know that the gauge clusters with tachs are a hot item on ebay for metros. I believe if you can find one they should be plug and play.

Definitely a good move.
I put an oem tach into my car, from self service junkyard. I wouldn't want to be without one now. In my car, the tach replaces a large clock that used to be in the instr. cluster (OEM was to have either a clock or a tach in that position). If yours is that way, see what the oem design did to provide a clock for cars with tach, and get that for your car too. |

that is the one I have in my car. I just used drywall screws to attach it to the pillar. Just a few wires to hook it up so it takes longer to get the wires down the pillar and inside the dash than it does to hook them up. I just gave that link as an example of the type I have. I am not sure if that is a good price or not. https://metroxfi.com/pics/tach-volts.jpg |
Most parts stores (autozone, napa, lee, oreily, kragen, farm n fleet, etc) sell them too. cheapo works fine and start around $35. 3-4 wires, batt+, batt-, signal, illumination (optional)

Hello -
I have one of these for my ammeter, but I haven't had time to install it : UNIVERSAL SINGLE GAUGE SWIVEL MOUNT METER POD gauges https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...QQcmdZViewItem It seems like a good idea to me because it needs only a little space to mount and can be aligned to your line-of-sight.
