GS members with "personal bests" on their latest fill-ups. Woo hoo!

Here's a list of GS members whose latest fill-up was a personal best. The info comes from the gas logs of members who:
  1. have more than 1 fill-up for their vehicle
  2. filled up at least once in the last 90 days
Thanks to php uber-wrangler and all around good guy, Matt (friendly GS overlord) for providing the info for this list.

If you're not on the list and should be, post a message in this thread. If there's something notable about your personal best, share it here - like how the heck did you do it??

If you do a PB fill-up before this list gets updated again, come on back and let us know!

CONGRATS to the following people for trying harder!

Way to go everyone!

I'd also like to send out a thank you to everyone who browsed for users best tanks.

Unfortunately, I have just refilled my car to a shockingly low mpg :( I have also added a PCV catch can, small underbody thing, and changed out my undersized, faulty injector. I can't wait to see how good this next tank is

::EDIT:: accidently quoted first post

CO ZX2 11-16-2006 12:09 AM

Great idea, Metro.

Congrats to all on your list for their best tanks ever. It's not easy.

CO ZX2

argylesocks 11-16-2006 10:36 AM

do i get a prize for my Personal Worst Tank?
ugh.. my numbers suck.

MetroMPG 11-16-2006 11:40 AM

That's funny. Ironically, the timing for this thread makes it easy for me to keep it up to date. As the weather gets nastier, fewer and fewer people will be posting "personal bests" (myself included) :(

red91sit 11-24-2006 11:50 PM

Wahoo!! new personal best, I'm very shocked at the numbers i got considering I was running on pure E-85!!!

26.10 MPG on the highway! E.P.A. average for 85-89 lincoln town cars is only 25 MPG highway using gasoline!!! freaking amazing!

MetroMPG 11-26-2006 04:40 PM

Nice work - that's more than double your cumulative MPG to date!

---

Here's the full list of GS members who have recorded personal best fill-ups since first time I posted the list:

omgwtfbyobbq ... White Bread - '92 Camry ... 42.79 ... 11/22/2006

red91sit ... The Champion - '86 Lincoln Town Car ... 26.10 ... 11/25/2006
(2nd personal best tank in a row - nice!)

BEN_EJ8 ... BEN_EJ8 - '98 Civic EX ... 39.43 ... 11/17/2006
(Note: first tank with his SG - we've seen that happen before! FE Instrumentation = good.)

BioThomas ... Jetta TDI A5 ... 49.72 ... 11/18/2006
(Oh so close to that magic 50 mark! Also, 2 tanks in a row appearing on the personal best list.)

nonnef ... '94 Ranger auto 4x4 ... 17.11 ... 11/18/2006

CO ZX2 ... Old Reliable '99 Ford ZX2 Coupe ... 62.05 ... 11/17/2006

bar10dah ... '05 Accord Hybrid ... 33.32 ... 11/20/2006

Way to go everyone & welcome to the new people.

zpiloto 11-27-2006 08:14 AM

Add the Prius to the list. 64.4 on 11/26:D

MetroMPG 11-27-2006 10:44 AM

Nice work, z. I see a few around locally and think of the time I tried out a 1st gen version back in the day. I didn't know much at the time about how to eke the most MPG out of the system. Instead I just drove as much as possible without starting the ICE and thought that was the coolest thing :)

LxMike 11-29-2006 03:24 PM

I had 2 personal bests on my thanksgiving trip.

11/22 on first leg 36.84 and on second i got into some hills and did a bit of coasting and broke the 40 mpg mark! 40.85 :)

philmcneal 11-30-2006 11:41 PM

yay i'm on that list! whoo finally recognition even though I don't drive that car anymore lol.

zpiloto 12-01-2006 01:19 PM

You can add Por Gratis to the list 33.0 MPG.:)

GasSavers_roadrunner 12-02-2006 04:18 PM

You can add Luv My Yaris to the list with a 43.0 MPG. Each fill-up I am getting better mileage, which makes me quite happy. I still have done no highway driving. Great car for FE IMO.

MetroMPG 12-05-2006 05:16 PM

Kudo alert!

Here's the up to date list of GSers with personal bests on their latest fill-ups:

Coyote X ... Metro XFi ... 57.29 ... 12/01/2006
That's damn impressive for a Metro in this weather. Checked Coyote's gas log and he's done some recent engine mods/fixes: "Shaved .040 off head. Fixed 2 burned valves." Nice work - esp. since that's minus aero mods.

lovemysan ... gutless wonder - '02 Saturn SL ... 51.32 ... 11/28/2006
That's pretty astonishing for a mid-size car. The work put in to those aero mods must be paying off (plus the drafting) ;)

zpiloto ... Prius ... 64.45 ... 11/26/2006

Wazabi Owner ... Ladybird '95 Metro ... 46.19 ... 12/02/2006
Another Metro representin.

roadrunner ... Luv My Yaris ... 43.02 ... 12/01/2006
Gentle but steady slope in the gas log going the right way.

zpiloto ... Por Gratis ... 33.03 ... 12/01/2006
Man! A personal best in each vehicle. Nice.

MetroMPG 12-06-2006 10:05 AM

This was overlooked:

Looks like CO ZX2 is sitting on yet another personal best: 70.65 Nice work.

SVOboy 12-06-2006 07:09 PM

Let's not forget me in all of this, mwahaha.

MetroMPG 12-06-2006 07:18 PM

Fine job, ma boy!

SVOboy 12-07-2006 07:37 AM

You don't own me! But thanks, nonetheless.

MetroMPG 12-15-2006 08:23 AM

10 days later, the pickin's getting slimmer...

Here's who's latest fill up is a personal best...

SVOboy ... Vegan Powa! '91 CRX ... 54.30 ... 12/06/2006

repete86 ... The (future) Green Machine '93 Accord ... 41.42 ... 12/14/2006

SVOboy 12-15-2006 12:08 PM

Well, I can already see how awful the weather is on my FE, so don't expect another record tank out of me for 3 years, which will be the first time I am home again for the summer. Mwahaha.

MetroMPG 01-29-2007 03:27 PM

Update: here's who is currently riding their "personal best" fillup, as shown in their gas logs...

Nice work peoples! This is hard to do in the winter.

Gary Palmer ... Whoop's Wheel's (Honda Wagovan) ... 37.84 ... 01/26/2007

Gary - what's your car's combined EPA figure? It's not in your garage entry (or on the chart.)

Jack ... Visual Xcrement (VX) ... 52.59 ... 01/25/2007

Jack, you're doing great. Gotta love the slope of the "tail" on your gaslog.

zpiloto ... Por Gratis (Maxima) ... 37.95 ... 01/25/2007

(Nice work, z. This one's way higher than your average.)

skewbe ... another Green Machine (98 Metro) ... 42.74 ... 01/28/2007

Go skwebe! :D

SVOboy 01-29-2007 03:33 PM

No love for my latest 54.51? *cries*

MetroMPG 01-29-2007 03:56 PM

Yeah, don't know why that didn't come up on the magic page Matt made for me. He must have "AND NOT(User="SVOboy")" in the query :p

SVOboy 01-29-2007 04:17 PM

Well, I'll just have to tear it up next time I'm home. Though I don't want to go back...Need to figure out what parts I should look for while I'm in Japan...

:D

Thanks. Wont see my name on that list again until atleast April. I put on snow tires (I tried it once without them and it was not a pretty sight). I can't coast worth a crap with them.

Good job everyone else!

LxMike 02-10-2007 11:31 AM

repete86 just posted a tank of over 50 mpg in his gaslog but no info about it at all.. tell us what you did to pick up so much.

repete86 02-10-2007 03:26 PM

I overinflated the tires to 50 psi (really stupid since the max psi is 35 in these things), kept the speed at 52 mph, it was a hot day, I didn't have any of the luggage in it that I would normally have since I wasn't traveling for work, I just had the engine tuned up, removed the side mirrors (just for this trip), and was being passed by alot of trucks on alligator alley.

To be honest, I'm not even sure about what make it jump so much. I have my good trips and my bad trips and my gaslog is all over the place. This one turned out to be a great trip. There was almost no city driving at all.

jwxr7 02-15-2007 06:53 AM

I just noticed this thread:o . My personal best came on 1/11/2007 @ 54.1mpg. Fallen a bit since due to a harsh winter that finally started.
edit: update, I just had a tank at 56.29 mpg!

MetroMPG 03-07-2007 05:48 AM

You can tell the weather is warming up.

Lookee here at this list of GS members with personal bests on their latest fill-ups:

zpiloto 03-07-2007 11:05 AM

No love for the Daewoo woo:p

MetroMPG 03-07-2007 11:10 AM

Yeah, I don't know why that happens. Matt wrote me a nifty query to pull these stats, but it seems to miss the odd one.

So, ahem: Woo hoo for the Daewoo too!

You calling me odd:D. I think the next fill will be replacing that one anyway.

kickflipjr 03-07-2007 08:46 PM

I didn't know you had a daewoo Z. That car has the same engine in it as the Chevy Aveo right?

Yes it's the 1.6L. its EPA numbers are not as good though. I've just about got all the bugs worked out of it so hopefully I'll start turning in some good numbers.
Looks like you got the madza figured out. I really liked mine, easy to work with.

oooh looking good too!

diamondlarry 03-19-2007 04:01 PM

I guess my last fill-up of 58.259 over 301.2 miles was a new personal best for this car.

BeeUU 04-27-2007 08:23 PM

Just hit my best tank.

43.93 mpg :D

With the wet, windy and cold weather that just arrived this might be a high for the Peug for awhile....

MetroMPG 04-28-2007 04:08 AM

Awesome, BeeUU.

I haven't updated this thread since we started the GS FE challenge. Probably should - not everyone's competing...

diamondlarry 04-28-2007 05:13 AM

I guess I need to make an entry here too. My tank last Saturday for my trip to the north side of Chicago and back was a new personal best at 62.95 mpg. This included ~10 miles of stop&crawl with a slight headwind on the way back. There wasn't any wind to speak of on the way up since it was so early in the morning.

Danronian 10-26-2007 07:56 AM

My personal best has been a 48 mpg run for the first half-tank I actually tried for MPG. THe next tank was a dismal 45 mpg... Not very good for a tuned-up 95 Vx IMO.

This take is looking very promising, and with the drive down to maryland coming up, I think it should help to finally get this car into the 50s like it should have been before!
