Can anyone help identify these parts?

So this is my first engine swap. I'm thrilled as all can be. However, since i've never done this ebfore, i want to make sure I'm doing it right. So I've posted a few pictures with letters next to parts I don't quite know. Fill in the blanks if you can.

BTW, this engine is a JDM d15b Vtec-e engine.

Each one of these is a sensor or wire of some sort, except for C, which is a tube that I don't know where it goes. I guess that could be the coolant line, but if it is, what is the tube under F?

D is an interesting one. It had two wires that go to the plug (green and black) and then four grounds that attach to the block. This might be the termostat housing, but it doesn't resemble the one I've seen from the d15b2, so it's all greek (or in this case, it's all Japanese) to me.

Is H the EGR? Is I the knock sensor?

Please help as I'd like to prepare for my swap with as much ease as possible.

Diesel May be the Answer

A: ECT coolent temp sensor? Aor D
B: coolent gauge sending unit
C: one for the heater suply i think
D: ECT coolent temp sensor? A or D
E. EGR lift sensor
F: vtec solonid?
G: oil presure for vtec?
H: EACV or idle control motor
I: IAT intake air temp.

aslo that black thing on the other side of the TB shaft is the TPS.

How loud it open downpipe?

I'm just goin to post this here so I don't lose it.

(this is what someone on another website said these were:)

Not too sure about D, E, F, and G. C looks to me like just a coolant line. B is your coolant temp wire for your gauge cluster. A is the coolant temperature sensor for the ECU. H is your IACV or (idle air control valve) plug. I is your Intake Air Temp Sensor or IATS

---

I = Intake air vale
H= eletronic air control valve
B , and A look like coolant temp sensors. I know A is for sure
D = Radiator fan switch

it really is great, assuming you can wade through the responses of

"n00b! Use da serch buton!! LOL!!"

or when you ask a question about a unpopular engine (such as this one) the responses you get will usually be something like:

"Yer so dum! Eye think jo0 shud git a b16a. Yer d15z1 sux0rs!"

in other words, so many people there are so quick to tell you your engine sucks, to swap an engine instead of fixing yours, or perhaps to use the search feature when you've already spent 2 hours searching through posts and have found nothing that relates.

yeah, once you wade through that crap, honda-tech IS a really good resource.

wind power woes

lol. definitely.

H-T

Honda-Tech is funny cuz if I look around there for gas mileage stuff and find it I get so excited like it is a jewel, but here it's like heaven but you dunno where to start. I'm trying to move away from h-t though to get this site solid enough it can concentrate on gas crap but these answers can still be had. Hell, I need to learn this stuff if I plan to buy one of those damn engines myself. Haha.

i know this isn't the place, but that engine is really clean (minus the broken tps, of course.) i hope you clean up your engine compartment and tranny to match.

That's already in the works. I am getting a few bottles of brake clean tonight and am going to clean the crap out of the tranny. Before I swap the new engine in, the engine bay will get a nice bath as well.

Nothing is worse than an engine caked in oil.

simple green works really well, and is good for the environment.
purple power is the same thing, but cheaper.

Let's face it, Honda-Tech is

Let's face it, Honda-Tech is for comparing penis size, whether it's using body kits, paint jobs, engine swaps, or dyno numbers. Like Matt said, if you're willing to wade through the bickering, it contains a vastness of knowledge on swapping, wiring, power, etc.

LOL

Here is better advice. You can either download or buy the honda shop manual. I'm not talking about Chilton, I'm talking about a real Honda repair manual made for the car that engine is in. It will give you all the answers. I got one of those $20 off the shelf manuals and they are crap compared to the real thing. I had the real thing saved on my computer but it got deleted. It had every nut and bolt and everything.

You speak of the almighty HELM - visit https://www.helminc.com or see your Honda dealer for one. HELM also makes manuals for cars other than Honda too. I owe much of my Honda knowledge to HELM.

Something like it. I'm talking the ones you can buy from the dealer or get them online. I can't get the helm for my car because they don't have any for nissans in their list.

Helms makes the official honda crap, and I posted a pdf of it somewhere else in this general tech section.

Honda Shop Manuals

https://comeseethis.com/honda/

I downloaded mine (92-95 civic) here for free. Unfortunately that is after I snagged the same thing on ebay for $5.99. Oh well, live and learn. I hope someone else benefits from this link. These are very large pdf's, don't even try it with dial up. Details below....

Here you will find the Factory Honda Service Manuals for free download. These are the manuals that actual Honda mechanics use.

i've also recently had my eyes opened to the difference between the auto parts store manuals, and the factory service manuals (FSM).

there is quite a bit of Metro info available online (scanned from the FSM), but not for my specific generation & year.

so i've been hanging around e-bay lately; a 98 Metro FSM 3-volume set is listed about once a week.

GasSavers_Ryland 03-26-2006 08:57 PM

I have a CD with the PDF file of a full factory shop manual as well, only dial up here, it would be a few weeks befor I could get to DSL to upload it to my web space, so it would be faster for me to mail a cd. unrelated, I also have PDF of 84-87 civic and CRX, and those are one my web page.
it's to bad that your TPS is busted, I've thought about getting a use engine just for those sensors, I ended up buying a brand new TPS this winter after finding that the used one was also wore out, and no one tells you how to calibrate the TPS, nor sells new ones without the rest of the $400 throttle body, but they are the same as the civic CX uses.
I also have a hard copy of the Hayens manual.
if you have any more questions about your vx engine feel free to send me a message, I would love to get a newer CRX or del sol, and do that kind of swap someday.

If you look in the general forum at the top of page two you will seem some honda manuals I posted up way back when. I use them a lot for my cx im/tb stuff.
