[FAQ] Lightweight Rim/LRR Tire
 

Okay, the purpose of this is to be a reference for those looking to get some nice lightweight rims that hopefully won't break the bank, so I'll just outline a few rims/tires that I know about and others can add and hopefully we'll have a decent list.

Wheels:

4x100

Miata Panasports (I think they're called)
Weight: 12 pounds
Size: 14"
Notes: Need to be bored or used with a spacer to fit most Honda hubs
Price: 100-300$

Honda Civic VX Alloys
Weight: 8.5 pounds
Size: 13"
Notes: Won't fit a lot of larger brakes

Notes: Ugly, 24.4 pounds total with Potenza RE 92 (165/65/14) LRR Insight Tyres

Tires:

Michelin Energy series and Harmony series are recognized as being LRR. They replace some of the carbon black with silica.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE 92 in the 165/65/14 size has 40% lower rolling resistance than a non LRR tire. This is the size used on the Insight and as I understand it, all other sizes of the Potenza's are not LRR. - Dan

Could you specify bolt pattern as well? Please?

And I know nothing about tires or I would write something.

All of those are under the head of 4x100.

I was planning on doing it with the headings like that so it's easier to only look at what you want. Unfortunately I don't know any other common bolt patterns.

Does anyone have any info on the Civic hybrid rims??

I'm looking for something both lightweight, cheap, and with aerodynamics as a consideration(ie. smooth cover on the exterior built into the rim).

Hopefully someone will have information on the new honda hybrid wheels, I searched for a good while and found nothing, we might need to go to honda with a scale and do it ourselves.

Darn it, bolt pattern is weird on my car. 4 x 116.

The bolt pattern on the GT6/Spitfire is also a bit weird. Only certain rims will fit it. I do need to do more research in this area. I'm unsure if it is even possible to fit Honda insight rims/tires on my GT6, but I'd be more than happy to.

I must have the super duper lightweight HX rims because mine only weigh 11.75 lb.

One 165/65/14 Potenza RE 92 mounted on one HX rim weighs 24.4 lbs.

At what PSI would that be? :D
