hahahaha my wife does the same thing with our fit!!
the fits power curve is actually a curve though. there is 20 less ftlbs. at 2000 rpm than 3000rpm. for some reason she thinks 1st gear doesnt go passed 13-14mph. however it makes up for her lack of hypermiling techniques. |

I GOT MY CDI / WASTE SPARK / COIL ON PLUG CONVERSION UP AND RUNNING!!! And I'm going to visit Scottie in New Mexico for his daughter's birthday tomorrow. So hopefully I'll get the tune-master on my car again. And hopefully I'll get the car on the dyno again! **(didn't happen) Not to mention I'll be able to get some good highway mpg figures and further tune the fuel and ignition maps for cruising. I'm a happy camper. |
We got to Albuquerque from Salt Lake only stopping for gas once! 585 miles! And the car was loaded down too. I had tools, some luggage, and two passengers. I'll get the mpg figure tomorrow. I still have a couple gallons left.
I was able to perfect the fuel map, ignition, and the O2 feedback target table since I had many miles of my girlfriend driving. O2 feedback target is a big one. Not just for O2 correction but so you know what AFR you want for particular cells. When the car is going uphill, I want a fuel mixture that's going to provide some power, that way you don't have to downshift. But on level or downhill surfaces I'm able to run leaner than 18:1 with no misfires. I'm not sure how lean because my wideband is only accurate to 18:1 and richer. I guess the new ignition has proven itself. I have some work to do on Idle tuning still. It's stalling every time I put in the clutch. |
Sounds good man. Glad to here you made it with no problems
|
We only got 37mpg. We weren't doing any special techniques to save gas, and we drove between 65 and 80. Tires are crap. But still, it should have been better. I just learned a new technique for tuning ignition timing when you're on long freeway trips, so I expect I should be able to push the mileage up on the way back.
Still, 584 miles, one gas stop... that's pretty cool. One day I will be installing aftermarket cruise control. And soon I will be buying some new tires for the HX rims so I can get rid of these 14 inch steelies. |
HAHA yeah, my wideband only goes to 18:1. AEM uego, right?

On my car it idles better if it's slightly richer. |
Stalling isn't the AEM's fault. It's part of my learning curve.
By advancing the timing while tuning on the way home I was able to achieve 47.5 mpg!!! It should be no problem breaking 50 highway mpg once I get my lighter wheels and some new tires put on. |

I don't have an EGT sensor. But my headers aren't glowing or anything.
I'm going for a smog test. I'll post up my NOx to give you some indication. **NOx way too high. Over 3000 ppm @ 2000 RPM with only 17 degrees timing. AFR is 14.5. |
