Like others have said, let the kid learn in the Prizm. Cheaper than buying another car, and any kid worth their salt can figure out a manual transmission. In the 1920s and '30s, kids learned how to drive, and there weren't any automatics around at all!

As far as not having the patience to teach them on a 5-speed, a little Prozac, or a shot or two of Old FedCal will help that...:)

It's tough to compare to the 1920s and 1930s...a lot has changed. There's much more traffic, much less patience, everybody drives much faster, and there's much more to pay attention to on the road.

That all said, when I was 16 I wished I could have learned on a manual transmission, and at my current age I'm glad I finally have a manual car.

Even worse, you have women use self defeating logic such as "I can't drive stick shift, there is just no way"... It's like wtf, you won't even give yourself the chance? How ****ing stupid is that! I HATE IT when women make excuses saying they can't do something by implying that it's because they're women.. What happened to the whole "empowering women" bull****? No I don't want to open the door for you, you can do it yourself, no I don't think you need an automatic and yes I think automatics are for the lazy and handicapped, why don't you just drive the damn thing or don't drive at all..

Strong hate on the lady folks.

Women can do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want... (most will tell you that).... just as long as she smells nice, kisses well, and can cook as well or better than I can.

Woman or man, it's just annoying to hear the "I can't learn that!" nonsense. It's especially annoying when it comes to women because so many of them have convinced themselves they can't do it for absolutely no reason at all except that it being a stereotype which is utter bull****.
