That is even more physics-violating than running a car entirely on onboard-generated HHO. To generate electricity with those coils, the car is going to be slowed down more than the electricity it makes will be able to propel it.

Nope the President hasn't changed that law of physics yet so it will not work.
Sorry but the idea of a live rail to connect to your car for power is not going to happen - no one makes money that way and without steel wheels grounding the cars to complete the circuit you would need two connections to live wires, onboard surge supressors and transformers and charging circuits all of which would add great weight and take up space in your car. Ever wonder why trains are so heavy? |

I thought the magnets were in the cars, and the field coil was under the track. Basically an electric motor, but laid out in a straight line, not round.

There is a company called Ener1 that is developing a hydrogen fuel cell range extender for electric cars.
