My dad ran his 95 sl1 saturn to 290k. The interior did rattle it would burn some oil but the car would take the beating. The car overheated basically messing up the engine so he junked it. Good car tho he was sad to see it go.

John, are all of those "top end" cleaners? (I've never heard of BG44k)

I ask because I solved my oil burning (i.e. improved from 1 quart per 1k miles to 1 quart every 4k miles) by running an engine oil flush.

My theory is that this freed up the oil ring, which I don't think you can do with a top-end cleaner.

BG 44K is a fuel system and top end cleaner added to the fuel.

My 2002 Saturn SL I bought new, has 208,000 miles. I change the oil and filter every 3K, shift at 2000 rpms mostly. Baby it. Only had the intake manifold gasket replaced myself. Tensioner, idler pulley, one O2 sensor, of course plugs and wires , battery. But original clutch, trans, axles etc. Needs wheel bearings. I put quick struts all around myself. Very easy. New front brakes, but thats with everycar. Mine burns 1 qt / 1000 miles, can't see it smoke, but its the sticking oil ring. Good car, best car I've owned. Still on the road.
