Quick & dirty camera mount for SG2 filming
I needed a camera mount so I could film my ScanGauge while driving to collect data. Since the movie mode is limited in how close it can focus (macro mode is only for stills as is manual focus), this consists of a 18" piece of 2x3 with the SG2 taped on at one end and a mini folding tripod (it folds flat) taped to the other. The distance also leaves enough room that I can still read the ScanGauge's screen directly (I could've looked at the camera's screen if necessary). One of my dash's cubbyholes is tapered as is goes back, so I could wedge the 2x3 in there pretty solidly. As long as I don't take any very sharp turns it stays put fine. Bouncing doesn't appear to be a problem when I took it for a quick test run. I recorded a little and it dawned on me just how much work it's going to be to extract all the data from the videos. Usually my problem is too little information!
