That window shrink wrap stuff doesn't even hold up to my cats, so it probably wouldn't work well on a car. What might work is some stuff called Dr. Shrink...which is basically a heavy-duty version of that window stuff. It is usually used for shrink wrapping boats and wind turbine components. Only problem is that it is opaque...but maybe you can work a deal with HolyCow for his Lexan (tm)...

Hmmm....starting with a skeleton frame and shrink wrapping to make an outer skin...

...of course you could use fabric over a framework...worked fine for dirigibles and world war one aircraft...
