A New Tool for MPG Testing

Costs a little more than a ScanGaugeII, but worth it.

I tried to order from this company before, and it is best to just call in to place your order. (They have great customer service). They apologized and said that they are sold out. Oh well.

On a serious note, I picked up a $50 DMM with a Duty Cycle mode and patched it into one of my injector leads.... very interesting feedback (I think this is the scangauge/super mid feedback without the velocity factor.

My Vx shows 1% at idle.... 1.3% idling with the headlights on.... 2.3% idling with the AC on. Acceleration is as high as 30-40%... a good lean steady state freeway run is down in the 5-7% range (I don;t mean lean burn cuz I dont; have it yet... but that feeling when you get up to speed and back off the throttle to just barely maintain speed)... Oh, and any deceleration with the throttle closed goes to 0% as expected.

Pretty easy install... patch into A1 and ground the other lead. Reverse polarity since the circuit is ground switched.

Now the ButtDyno(TM) is nice, however the folks at Acme products (makers of the Acme Ray Gun, Dehydrated Boulders and my favorite, Instant Earthquake Pills (not effective on Roadrunners) have done it again with their new product. Here's the infomercial:

I've got two since I'm the spokesperson and have a cable hooked up to each one so I can open and close the vents so it actually steers my truck. That way I can have front fender skirts.

Thanks for sharing that very amusing video. Much more practical than many of the gas saving gadgets sold seriously to suckers. You might want to post it to the general fuel economy discussion forum for more exposure.
