i just got a SG2 for xmas and was wondering what the gray plug on the side was for. i did a little searching and found the USB dataloger thread. with it availible in aug of 06. well i even googled it and no result. i finaly emailed mr.SG2 "Ron" and heres what he replied to me:
"The plug on the side is the same as the one on the back. You can plug the cable into the side connector if you want to mount the ScanGaugeII flush against something.
We are working on a datalogging interface. The interface is a unit with memory and processing power itself. It has a cable that plugs into the unused connector on the ScanGaugeII and another that plugs into a USB port on a computer. They don't have to both be plugged in at the same time.
The interface will use SD Cards for data storage. You can plug it inot the ScanGauge for logging and for other upload/download tasks. It can be removed from the vehicle and taken to a computer for data transfers.
The ScanGaugeII has all the hardware needed for the interface, but will need an upgrade of its program to use it. The Upgrade is free when you purchase the interface.
Price has not been finalized yet. It is expected to be under $100. This will also include the software for a windows based computer.
I will send you an e-mail when it is to be offered for sale.
Ron"
also some promised-to-Matt action shots
BTW i had the thing configured with in 10 mins but took me 2.5 hours to install
How do I pose a question to the SGII manufacturers? Or maybe someone from the forum knows. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry 3.0 litres 6 cyl. built in Japan, sold in Europe. Does it support the SGII?
