I've already contacted Yoshi, but not Matt. Yoshi did tell me what he is offering Matt for a gassavers group buy and gave me a really close offer "since I live in Canada" - I guess so I don't get hit too hard with the exchange...pretty nice of him.

If a group-buy will happen soon I'll get in on it, otherwise I'll be sending Yoshi some money next month.

Matt, let me know if you'd rather if I went with the group-buy - I don't want to mess up any possible deals you've already been working on.

OH! Well then, I think I've heard the term "one off" before or else I would have caught that. Yes, mine took about that long to come but I did not mind, it built up the anticipation for awesomeness.

I'm still thinking about it. What I'd really like to do is be a retailer of this fine product. That would turn a small profit to help the site stay afloat. I'm still crunching the numbers though and hoping that it's a viable option.

I'm wondering how big the market would be for it. Most people who aren't FE nuts don't care that much about an MPG readout. Newer cars are starting to come with them and the ScanGauge does so much more than the MID when you look at all the sensors it reports and its diagnosis capability.

But, the MID is WAY more powerful than this thing:

http://www.porcine.com/gps/mpg/mpg.html

It's for aircraft, only reports instant mpg, requires a GPS to calculate speed, and costs $199!

SVOBoy: Yeah, we use metric, but I personally like US MPG. It's just a number that's easy to deal with. I don't like using Imperial MPG or the L/100 km measurements at all. However, I do like km/L so the MID is perfect in that regard.

Man, that thing sucks. I imagine the MID is more of a niche crowd type of thing, but what do I know, it could be the next tickle me elmo.

You know, I'll bet the European market would be perfect for the MID. It seems to be all about small-cars and MPG...er...km/L over there.

60% of European vehicles are Diesels. I don't think the MID will work on thise.

Did you discuss with Yoshi that you have a 3 cyl Metro? I just wonder what his opinion was on if the Mid will work on that. You should be able to get it calibrated but your instantanous will be off.
