update
I am estimating 40 mpg again. I am stretching out this tank futher to burn off "winter gas".
Current at 1/4 tank with 230 miles.
Sorry about the delay. I will fill this weekend for some better numbers.

I've put a load of tanks on since the last round - what is the date we are starting from?

Rick: James is a little late filling up, but he now has a baseline for his new VX:
04/23/2007 - 345.3 mi. - 7.2 gal (US) - 47.95 mpg (US)
100 of these miles are from the previous owner, so let the debate begin on whether this can be used or not. Any objections people?

Keep up the good work Red
On a side note (even though the Chrysler isn't in the challenge), I filled up the Intrepid and my current tank is ~32.2 mpg (keep in mind the SG isn't calibrated for this car, yet) . The car coasts beautifully! $54.61 to fill though .

Oh I'm quite jealous, I haven't been able to figure out exactly what is wrong with my car, but it does run rather crummily. It never stays running on the first start, and hot starts require gas pedal pumping haha. Usually i only drive it about 1.3 miles to school and back.

Unless otherwise noted, I see no problem with the baseline. There's going to be some changes with any new-car addition: Plus or Minus. It should even-out by the end of the Challenge. As Metro stated, if there are any objections, do so now.

We still have 3 weeks left before the end of the first cycle. Looking at James Gaslog he fills every 10 days or so with 8-9 gallons at 41 mpg. Unless he anticipating his mileage is going to drop considerably. He got plenty of time for 1 maybe 2 fills. This tank might even be worst then his last tank due to the highway mileage but I just think that using a number where over 1/3 of the driving was done by someone else is not the perfect solution when we have time.
