Poor fuel mileage

Hello all,

We just purchases a 2020 subaru forester and the dash has been saying we are at 17 mpg. We should be getting 30 or so and am wondering why it's saying this. Any help on this is appreciated, thankyou

I'm guessing that is a lifetime display, and it likely is calculating fuel usage with the previous owner, who could have done a lot of idling or just drove like a nut. Somewhere is the menus is a place to reset it.

Then dash displays tend not to be accurate. Usually, they are optimistic. For long term measurements, better to track the calculated fuel mileage from distance traveled and fuel put in. Start tracking that here, or elsewhere, and we can tell if the issue is just the display or something else.
