I had a mixed driving day yesterday. Some stop and go city driving at first, but then all relaxing country driving with almost no stops. I imagine I was getting nice FE in the country doing 55mph or less the whole way. Ironically I was taking my brother to pick up a 2000 ford excursion that he just bought. At least it is the turbo diesel version. He said he averaged 21mpg with it on the mixed drive back home (compared to the 18 mpg for the exact same route with his 5.9L jeep cherokee). He doesn't drive all gas hogs though, I talked him into buying a 94 civic dx 5 speed hatch from a co-worker a few months back .
