Yeah on the VVT-i engine apparently it will inject more fuel if the RPM exceed 2600-3000rpm decellerating like 0.3gph instead of the usual 0.2-0.1gph so you are better off leaving it in top gear or even popping it in neutral and using a little brake. Pads are cheeper than gas in the long run and you keep the rotors cleaner this way. City driving sucks gas only thing I find that works well is coasting up to the stop signs even at 15mph you can get 70-95mpg for a little while in neutral. Watch out for too low an rpm and too fast a throttle push it will bog down and get really mushy - I find that 2000-3000 rpm with easy throttle and you can go through all the gears to get up to 30mph still.
