Well just any PCV valve wont fit into the grommet in the intake manifold. Or will it?

I had another little breakthrough in my route design. I tried taking a 30mph road that parallels the highway on the way home from work and allows for a 1.5mi engine-off coast as long as nobody comes up behind. It adds 3/4 of a mile but the sheer length of the codfishing opportunity makes for not only increased FE but less fuel used overall by a small amount. Sick. Today's home-bound commute was 40.9mpg, previous best was 39.8mpg. 42.7mpg for the day.

Very nice, very nice indeed. I also imagine it's more fun to be off the highway.

Nice to see a personal best, Brick.
I, on the other hand may have peaked. My 6-tank upward trend came to an end today: 67.83 mpg (US)
I chalk it up to wasting a bunch of gas because of and while troubleshooting a vacuum leak, testing the partial boattail, as well as testing the "new" transmission. Also, did a 200+ km freeway trip which tends to drag my average down now (where in the olden days it used to pull it up).

Well well well, dan may have a chance after all!
For myself I'm preparing to live a life on the sidelines,

The sidelines, eh. Hope you'll still hang around and stuff.
Yes, the only way I'll stay ahead of Dan is if...
- I avoid the freeway altogether (the VX has the Blackflea beat hands down at freeway speeds)
- draft all the time (which I don't like to do - I'd rather see what's ahead)
- focus on the aero mods
- any other suggestions?
At times like these, I like to remind myself that "you don't know what you don't know," and hope I'm just missing some fundamental driving technique that would help with the freeway stuff.

Well, being on the sidelines certainly has something to do with sticking around. Right now I'm here and there's really no reason for me to be as the only big thing I'll be doing for my car is cleaning out a space in the garage for it,
Hopefully I can add something to the discussion though, in the future, you know. We'll see what information dartmouth arms me with.

Yes, it would seem that you have the advantage at lower speeds. But even if I had a longer highway route, it seems that I would peak in the mid to high 60's, not too far from where I am now. The one caveat is that I still don't have the SuperMID calibrated yet..... I am at 685 miles, gauge at 3/4 tank which leads me to believe that I overdid the de-calibration from the last tank. That may get me up to 70 for this tank. Anyway, no filling until I get my filler tube yanked off for a look see. I am hoping it is clogged with something which would explain my fuel filling woes. Also I will put on the new PCV valve and Im hoping I can get past inspection.

Those valves are designed specifically for each engine as far as spring pressure and flow rate.....but what would happen if you used one made for a V6 on a 4 cylinder and along with a Condensator?
