the elusive 100 mpg continues to... elude me.

just got back from the sailing races: a 7 km round trip to the marina. cold start, wet roads (but not actually raining), 60F-ish

99.0 mpg (US).

that's only 0.2 below my best ever segment, which was done under ideal conditions (dry roads, 10-15F warmer, warm start, 6% weight reduction)

and this was with continued experimenting with moderate load/low RPM acceleration. i'll be very pleased if this actually turns out to be the most efficient way to accelerate the fireflea.

the SG and my dashboard speedo continues to register speed when using the engine kill switch.

i just started recording SG tank avg speed at fill-up time, 2 fill-ups back:

2006-04-12: 60.7 mpg (US), avg speed 27 mph, roughly 50% city driving

2006-05-03: 65.8 mpg (US), avg speed 27 mph, roughly 60% city

(the non-city portion of both tanks is relaxed, rural highway driving, not freeway stuff)

ps - just noticed your sig, zpiloto. funny! because it's true.

I should have filled up today, because I had a major gas leak, and broke my gas gauge, but naw, it can wait,

Congrats metro. You're thoroughly whooping on us, while building an EV at the same time.

I pushed the envelope, and the envelope has pushed back.

All week it rained and was cool. 335.7 miles, 64.36 MPG. I guess it could have been worse. So much for my uptrending graph. At least it was high enough to boost my average.

Next week looks warmer and not so much rain.
