Just filled up, only 43mpg. The VX is a beast on the highway, but I need to quickly figure out how to drive it in city/stop and go traffic. Alot to be said about the type of drive and the driver My hats off to you Dan, I'll get there, but it will just take some practice.

It's a great day here in northern IN! The temp is sitting at ~53F now according to Weatherbug. I got 40.3 on the way to take my wife to work; no EOC while the engine warmed up. The temp started out at ~38F. From my wife's work to mine was 56.2 and this was with a bit of a headwind. I tried some different P&G tactics and it seems that it paid off. On the way to pick up my wife this afternoon, I managed a 59.4. I was at nearly 61 but I got nailed by one of those unpredictable traffic lights less than a mile from her shop and couldn't recover. From her work to home I got 53.8.

Ouch! All I can say is that when I drove it, it never had a chance to idle. I never drove in heavily congested traffic. Maybe you could find a less congested route?

Seriously, looking forward to the challange. I am very happy with the vehicle, just as described. Runs great, and a pleasure to drive.

scanguage was showing 8.1 galon and low fuel liught came on going round corner so decided to refuel and see what the pump showed. pumped 8.20 gallons of gas and miles was 280. SG was showing 34.6 mpg and at pump worked out to 34.15. have started to do enging off coasting and was thinking about a wai and thought i'd try a free version. snorkel for air cleaner sits in fender well and has and inlet on bottom for air silencer. i took some foil and cover the fenderwell inlet and kept bottom one that used to go to silencer open. maybe once engine comepartment warms will help me. doesn't seem to hurt. just did this 2 days ago.

Finally reached the 90-day average 47mpg mark for the 1st time today. Still an excruciatingly 5.54mpg extra to go before I get to the top-10 list. Let's get the winter solstice over with already so summer comes!

Boo for a 48 MPG tank, the cold really eats at my FE, as you can see from last year's winter dip.
Anyway, I really should get an EBH, but I won't be driving long enough to get it ordered and installed this go around anyway, mehbe for next year. I wanted back on the top 10 over break, but I guess it won't happen, silly 13th place!

I am getting a new windshield in the mazda today. So, it will be inspected soon.
I have been itching to find out the mpg of it.

Looking forward to seeing what the Mazda can do.
This month will probably be the first since Feb/06 that I won't have a fill-up. It's been pretty mild (relatively speaking - about 5 C), so I've been able to keep biking for local trips, and haven't gone on any fuel-burnin' road trips lately.
My current tank sucks though: it's in the low 60's according to the SG.
