You may well be right, there are/were several vendors and versions depending on which model & engine. I'll keep the search on the back burner (no pun).
The honda ecu is apparently (if not customized) a second-sourced 80C31 which is the CMOS non-maskable version of the 8-bit 80C51, hence the external 32 kb EPROM (the 27c256 part). I've done a lot with those but not for an ECU application. It's all great info.
