If the Metro is actually getting < 20mpg, you've got bigger problems than fuel economy. You'd be able to see, hear, and smell something wrong.

Bill, every time I use my brakes, I think about all of the energy I'm wasting. The fuel has already produced that energy and we have a big button at our feet that kills it. There's gotta be something we can do for cheap to recover that energy during times of deceleration.

Good news so far. I put 50 miles on the truck today and the needle has barely moved. I did a ton of P&G, EOC, and very little idling. I like the way the truck feels with the tires at 55psi. Feels more like the full race suspension I had on my Nissan. I realized that some of the roads I've been driving on for years aren't exactly that great. lol.

Todays commute 78.2 miles /1.65 gallons used = 47.2 mpg .
Avg speed was 48 mph . No A/C ,windows up ,very light breeze & temps in the low 70's.
Did a bit more coasting than normal - traffic was very light today ,so I took advantage of it .
Shut the car off at the first stoplight in town LOL Oooooh !! the looks I got when I restarted LOL

I had a 53 mpg segement going to work this morning. 55 mpg segment coming home this evening. 92 miles round trip. Slight headwind this as, and a slight tailwind this afternoon.

Filled up today for 51.2 mpg. 640.5 miles @ 12.5 gal.

Record day today on the commute for the Daewoo-woo 46.9 MPG's one way and 46.4 MPG on the round trip of 50 miles. This is without the boat tail or rear under tray (succombed to the weather) and E20. Go Figure. Just goes to show how tank to tank testing just does not work.

107 miles, 4.25 gallons = 25.18mpg and that's strictly city driving. That's my record and I'm kinda proud of it. My goal of 30mpg is so close, yet so far away. I know there's room for improvement in the area of gauging traffic, but I've gotten pretty good at it over the last couple of days. I think some poly reinforced motor and trans mounts would help to keep the power going to the wheels, so that's on my to do list.

I think it's time to bite the bullet and go for some aero.

Hi!

Post in the introduction forum, and tell us more about your car, and what your driving is like (miles/day, length per journey, and so on), as well as your current fuel economy.

There is a lot of info available on this forum

Looking good so far! You'll make the 30mpg in no time, the only challenge is holding it come winter,

Today, I did a 25-mile drive, and got (via SuperMID): 77.5MPG (US) (engine on 33% of the time). This segment peaked at 86MPG for a while - but there is a dirt-track uphill at the end which atea fair amount of fuel to climb.

In the opposite direction I got nearly 60mpgUS with 50% engine-on

One of them Oklahoma windstorms is roaring through Minnesota(29-40 mph +) ...had a tough time keeping the car on the road let alone *expect* FE ! The cruise control was holding the car back @ 55 = 75-80% LOD on the SGII in 5th gear. Once I shut the CC off the LOD dropped back down to 30 and the commute averaged out to 35.5 mpg... I am starting to hate drive time wind .

Hyundai 03 Accent 1.5L 5 speed, new to me

First tank 5.93L/100km 40mpg this was the first time I filled it so maybe I underfilled compared to the dealer

Second tank 5.59L/100Km 42.46mpg don't know why the increase I thought I was driving worse it could be the can of injector cleaner I put in was boosting the octane rating?

The new U.S. epa rating is 24/33mpg and the old is 28/36mpg.

I'm mainly driving rural roads at 50mph but some highway and town. Its a bit of a puzzle why I'm so easily beating the EPA numbers as I'm not using any special driving methods just driving conservatively and sticking to the speed limits. Tires are blown up to max rated pressure of 35psi cold.
Maybe if I get a scangauge I can get 50mpg out of this baby.
