New F150 mileage

Just completed my first full tank on the Silver Beast. First, the fuel mileage for a full size extended cab truck is outstanding, 19.9 mpg, something that my diesel F350 never reached in mixed city / highway driving. The truck is bone stock, no special hypermiling, just kept it at the speed limits and kept accelleration reasonable.

Also, the instument cluster has an average mpg meter. The mileage reported on this gage and the FE calculated by odometer / gas pump were the same.

That's great FE for a full-sizer. I am also impressed that the FE gauge was accurate. The one in the Fit is usually pretty close, but 1 mpg or so off. My Scangauge also fluctuates from tank to tank.

Re: New F150 mileage

That looks exactly like my 2010 F150. I got 19 mpg on a 400 mile round trip to Dallas.

I will be making a 1200 mile round trip to Georgia next week and will try to see if I can squeeze out 20 mpg. I've maxed out the air in the tires according to sidewall numbers.

Yeah great but how about the air flow past the wheel wells and under the truck?

Re: New F150 mileage

I did notice that the OP's F150 is a 3.7L V6.

Mine is a 5.4L V8 so I'm surprised that my MPG numbers are not far off of the V6.

Re: New F150 mileage

Did a little research to see what you had.

My Truck.
2010 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 4.7L SOHC 2V V8 3.55 17" Wheels.
Ratings: 13/18 and 15 Combined. It had 2700 miles on it when I bought it.
It has never gotten less than 19 mpg on straight gas or 18 mpg on E10. Lifetime average is 19.5 mpg with a best of 21.5 mpg on Straight Gas.

Your truck is rated 16/21 18. I wouldnt be surprised if you average over 22+ MPG on straight gas or 21+ mpg on E10 once its broken in.

Re: New F150 mileage

That is excellent milage for a full sized truck!

My uncle's Eagle Talon TSI (Turbo AWD) sports car can't even get past 15mpg.

Re: New F150 mileage

I got back from a 1400 mile round trip.

I averaged between 19 - 20 mpg on the highway on my 2010 F150, 5.4 V8. I had 3 passengers and luggage in the bed of the truck. Also was running the A/C and the cooled front seats.

What was interesting is that I was stuck for 10 miles on a construction project road and had to do 50 mph. I averaged 28 mpg during that stretch.

But there is no way I was going to do 50 mph for 1600 miles. LOL
