You should read up on the Insight motor, it is a very well designed motor. They are also available with a MTX, not just a CVT. I believe the PCM and controls are unique to it, so I see the problem in modifying it, you'd have to break a lot of new ground.

The Insight engine is one of a kind. Its just to over-engineered for me at this point. In the future I would like to jump into a electric motor a assist. But for right now I just need to concentrate on what I've done and try to get to the magical 100 mpg number on gasoline alone.

The next car I will build will start out as a regular Honda but won't resemble its original form in anyway.

WOW I wish I was as motivated (and capable) of restoring and rebuilding a car like your del sol. These are pretty sweet little cars (stylish gas savers). Can't wait to see the completion. Please keep us posted with pics.
