My Fiesta is getting way better mileage
My 2015 1.6L Stick Shift Fiesta is consistently averaging 50-55 mpg. It doesn't seem to matter much City or highway. Is this partly due to the manual transmission or am I a very efficient driver?

Is yours the Sporty ST? Great car, great engine too. Fords eco boost technology is far more efficient than people realise. I've heard a case where someone averaged 75 MPG (UK) on a 300 mile trip which for a sports hatch is remarkable!

It has to be both. Stick will basically always outperform an automatic in terms of fuel economy, but it takes a driver who is skilled to do it against some of the slick modern automatics out there. Nice numbers! Congratulations!

No it's the base model, no bells and whistles or eco boost. My last tank was 56 mpg, mostly highway

Seems pretty good, we only get the eco boost ST in that size, or the diesel. What kind of speeds do you cruise at? It does seem exceptionally high for a 1.6 gas engine.

It's the standard, not eco boost. I'm not really a conservative driver, I'm usually around 80 mph on the freeway. Although I like to think I'm really good at predicting when other cars will have to slow and I'm quick to take it out of gear

Hmm at 80mph? That kind of mileage is impossible at that speed.
Are you hand calculating the numbers?

I divide the mileage by gallons of gas used every full up

So where's your Fuelly page? It says no vehicle in garage...
You must be getting about 700 to 750 miles per tank yes?

I haven't pushed it past 600 miles, I just created this account to ask that question
