Looking to buy tires soon, what to buy?

I have a 1999 honda civic ex automatic, It has a set of si wheels with big 185/65/15 tires! I am looking at selling these and with the cash buying a new set of tires for the steel wheels in the correct 185/65/14 size. My question is what are a good cheap tire that also helps with gas mileage? I would like something in a 40k mileage tire. I was looking at the faulken ziex 512 as I have used them in the past.

if you drive a lot of hwy miles, you might benefit from keeping the 15 inch wheels. also, why the 40k mile tire? there are better choices in regard to cost benefit...unless of course your yearly miles driven are extremely low(or you drive super aggressively and want a tire to match).

check tirerack.com and your local tire shops. if the shop doesn't have a sale, they may match your tire rack pricing. tire rack rates tires(both consumer and expert reviews).

Second on keeping the larger wheels. Not only is there an engine efficiency improvement (lower RPM's), but rolling resistance is improved.

i have noticed the larger tires have hurt my mileage/performance, so im going back with the stock size. I might have found a deal on some used tires which i know some people look down on, But I think with the extra cash im going to do my timing belt service which is due soon and a tune up. Also a scan gauge!
