My boss thinks 28 mpg is great. He only gets 16 mpg in his dodge 3500 van though. He complains about gas all the time and I tell him his alternatives... he just insists that gas should be no more than 1.50 / gal. Just like he yells at traffic that can't hear him.

I just found an article about this, it appears Honda really did change the Fit for 08. Here's the link.

Great find - thanks.

I'm betting its a final drive adjustment, but I guess we'll have to wait to see the specs since they're being cagey about it.

I bet it's magic spark plugs and a condensator. :-)

I bet it has built in acetone injectors in the fuel tank

Actually it is probably just some re-tuning on the ECU to keep it out of V-tec longer. Regardless of what the changes are though, I want to import the parts from a new Canadian Fit to put on my year old US Fit so I can get the improvement.

In a way I am echoing Post #4 above. I think it would be nice and relatively easy to make low rolling resistance tires available at least as an option or as part of a package.

Honda Canada's web site lists the FE of the 08 Fit:

2008 - 7.1/5.7 L/100 km (city/hwy)
http://honda.ca/HondaCA2006/Models/Fit/2008/Specs?L=E

compare to...

2007 - 7.3/5.8 (city/hwy)
http://honda.ca/HondaCA2006/Models/Fit/2007/Specs?L=E

One thing they apparently DIDN'T modify was weight. The 07/08 specs on Honda's site are the same (eg. 1091 kg for the DX).

Gearing/final drive ratio info isn't available on their site. Anyone know where I can find this out?

It's likely they only changed gearing - I just noticed the FE for the 08 automatic is identical to the 07 automatic. Only the 5-speed's FE improved.

I'm thinking they more likely just played with the ECU and maybe even changed the inner door sticker to say 36 psi... LOL

That would be funny. And you know what - maybe there's something to it. The city FE is where the largest improvement is seen: 0.2 L/100 km, vs 0.1 L/100 km on the highway.
