Interesting Ford compact

I was out today and I saw this interesting car that would make a great FE platform. So I start stalking it since I've never seen this car before. I follow it for about 2 mile so I can get the make and model. Guess I need to add that to the "you know your an FE nut when you" . Combined MPG of 45MPG 57MPG highway. Sadly you can't get it here in the good OLD USA

I've see lots of Ka's with Mexican plates running around - which may be what you saw. It's been a hit in the UK for years and is currently sold in Mexico and other world markets, but not the U.S. It's really what should've been offered here after the Festiva got the boot -- but again, we get the guzzlers

BTW -- cool avatar. I guess it's that time of year again...

I think ford is making a mistake not selling those cars in the US, I bet they would have sold a lot last summer when the gas prices were over $3 bucks a gallon.

I rented one of those in New Zealand and put about 1300 miles on it. Great little car. I did not calculate the MPG nor did I have scangauge-honed FE skills back in 2004.

Yaris Commercials

...and some of the American public thought that "hurting" the piggy bank in the old Yaris commericals was too graphic!

Hmm, not sure if that's a good thing haha

well i was looking at the U.K. site i happened to notice they actually have realistic fuel economy tests!!

Urban - An engine started from cold in laboratory conditions operated at varying speeds, maximum 50 km/h, average 19 km/h over a theoretical distance of 4 km. Extra Urban - Conducted immediately after the urban cycle, it consists of half steady speed driving and half varying speed driving, maximum 120 km/h over a distance of 7 km. Combined - This is an average of the two parts of the test, weighted by the distances covered in each part.
