what kind of person is it who is selling it? people who often put the lightest use on a vehicle will often think of it as old, and sell it for less, it's the people who drive them hard, put after market parts on and so on, who want more money for their worn out car.
I would come down to Texas and grab a VX if I were you. I've seen several in the 2000-3000 range recently. I'm just waiting for the right 95-97 1.0/5-speed Metro LSi to come along.
