Anyone else ever wanted to build a hovercraft until they saw the FE numbers?

from what I've seen they get better mileage then a Hummer.
The hover craft I road on this winter I think got 10-15mpg, of course you can get better mileage in a car, but can a car go from land to ice to water?
yes, I want to make one, but I don't think I ever will, unless it's a narrow, crotch rocket style with a turbine engine.
