Holiday Travel

How many people travel for the holidays? How far and did you make add any last minute mods like a grill block. Did any one get really good mileage or really bad mileage

I'm going to the girlfriend's for her greater family gathering tomorrow. Prolly get around 55-57 round trip, which is what I've gotten the last half dozen times I went out there. It's only like 80 miles RT though.

Took a 150 mile or so trip Christmas eve to hang out with the family and enjoy there big celebration.

Ave. 42 mpg for the trip. Temps in the low 40's. Damp and misty for the trip there. Back was solid rain and wetness.

WAI was installed. Only hypermiling tactic was load driving and running 5 mph under the posted speed limit. No fas'ing or coasting. No engine off at lights, or light timing for that matter. Even took a detour thru the Garden of Lights setup at a public park. Could have done 3/4 of that with the ICE off.

So in short we had a great trip. And dare I say a very nice drive. Civic, wife and I with one of our granddaughters. And 42 mpg without trying.

Drove from Salt Lake City to Orange County, CA for the holidays. I apologize to anyone for being too busy to visit.

Mileage wasn't as good as I had hoped. I was also driving 80mph most of the time in order to get there (and home) faster.
